The word yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘union’.
In the practice of yoga an inward journey begins at the physical layer, and through the practice of asana (postures) and pranayama (steady breath focus) the student is guided towards the more deeply seated spiritual layer of their being. Yoga can:
- Improve your posture and flexibility, allowing your body to function with greater ease.
- Lower high blood pressure, and regulate the endocrine (hormone) system.
- Help to manage feelings of anxiety, stress and depression.
- Assist the body in healing from injury or illness.
